First, there was confusion over seating arrangement before the dissolution of the 7th Parliament of the 4th Republic.

The Minority members (National Democratic Congress) had not only occupied the seat at the Majority (New Patriotic Party) side but also removed their name tags, resulting in serious confrontation from both sides of the house.

Earlier, the NDC MPs were seen taking the names of the NPP MPs, who initially occupied that side, off the desks.

The presence of the Assin North MP-elect was also not taken kindly by the New Patriotic Party side who wanted him removed from the chamber because of the court injunction against him. This, the Minority NDC will not succumb to and it also led to a heated argument.

Then came the shock of the night when the Member of Parliament for Tema West, Carlos Ahenkora snatched the ballot papers from the hands of a parliamentary official at the end of the election in the Speakership race between Alban Bagbin of the NDC, and Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye of the NPP.

He, however, underestimated his colleagues to be so swift in apprehending him before he made his way out of the chamber.
