Bodi District with its Administrative capital Bodi was carved from Juaboso and forms part of the new districts and Municipalities created in the year 2012 and were inaugurated at their various locations simultaneously on the 28th June, 2012.

The District forms part of twenty three (23) Metropolitan, Municipalities and Districts in the Western Region of Ghana. It was created out of the former Sefwi Juaboso District in 2012 with the Legislative Instrument (LI) 2020.

The Bodi District is located in the northern part of the Western Region. It shares borders with Juaboso District to the north, Sefwi Wiawso Municipal to the west and Sefwi Akontombra District to the south

The population of the district according to 2010 population and housing census stands at 53,314 with 27,111 males and 26,203 females.
