Opening the programme which was under the theme “remain in Christ and his basic message”, (1 John 2:24-25) the Atebubu Area Head of the Church, Apostle K.B Antwi said the training programme was not just designed for academic stimulation but also to give leaders practical insights and opportunity for deeper reflection and action in the light of the challenges of contemporary society.

Participants were taken through topics like: leadership development, church doctrine, practical ministry and creation care.

Contemporary issues like: galamsey, use of chemicals for farming, environmental pollution, open defecation and their effects on the environment were discussed while participants were urged to take personal responsibility seriously.

They were also schooled on personal hygiene, appropriate handwashing practices as well as the district assembly by-laws.

In his closing remarks the Atebubu district pastor of the church and coordinator of the programme Pastor Seth Tetteh Tawiah, described this year’s programme as very successful considering the level of participation and contribution asking beneficiaries to put the knowledge and skills acquired at the disposal of other members of their congregation.

He hoped they will become advocates of environmental protection to safeguard creation for future generations.

Participants affirmed their commitment to the objectives of the programme and promised to apply the knowledge and skills acquired especially those pertaining to the environment to ensure that the relevant objectives of the exercise are attained.

Beneficiaries were drawn from 4 districts in the area namely: Low Cost, Jato Zongo, Ahemfie and Highways.
