Construction work on that stretch of the road is expected to be completed within 24 months, and according to the Assembly, contractors on the project are still working tirelessly to ensure that work on the project is completed on time.

Speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Mr. Clement Wilkinson bemoaned the worsening traffic congestion as a result of the reconstruction work but insisted that work will soon be completed to allow for free flow of traffic.

Touching on the elements of the road, Mr. Wilkinson noted that the road will have three speed lanes, one service lane, flyovers, interchanges and footbridges when completed.

He added that the road construction comes with modern drainage facilities to prevent the area from perennial floods.

He explained that the ongoing work was necessary since it will help expand the road that connects Accra to Nsawam and other major cities in the northern part of the country.

He also revealed that the Assembly is liaising with appropriate authorities to compensate individuals who were genuinely affected by the ongoing construction work.

“We have moved a step further at giving adequate compensation to property owners who have genuine documentation but are genuinely affected by the work.

But, let me state categorically that it is not everyone who will receive this kind of compensation. People who built on areas that are already demarcated as government lands are not entitled to any form of compensation”, the MCE opined.

He concluded by assuring that the government is focused on pursuing the reshaping of roads in the area to help improve transportation.
