The children, who were cleaning the premises of the Municipal Assembly could not help, but to admire the gesture of the political head of the municipality, when he joined them to weed, sweep and collect garbage.

The MCE, Mr. Alexander Frimpong, who was dressed obviously for office duties joined the children when he spotted them cleaning the premises of the Assembly as a way of motivating them for their patriotism.

They earlier cleaned the premises of the Municipal Education Directorate, where the Municipal Education Director, Mrs. Karina Evelyn Benewoe, and her team of officials applauded them for the initiative.

Mr. Frimpong praised the management of the school for instilling communal spirit in the children at that tender age and urged them to value the essence of keeping a clean environment.

He said as future leaders destined to assume leadership of the country, it was important to train them to be selfless, patriotic, and committed to development and counseled them to focus on their books and pay attention to co-curricular activities to ensure their holistic development.

Mr. Emmanuel Ababio, the Assistant Headteacher of the School, said the exercise forms part of efforts to educate the children to honour their civic responsibilities.

He said the school is committed to training the children to be responsible citizens to contribute meaningfully to national development.
