First Sky Limited to undertake the construction of Ho by-pass road

First Sky Limited, Civil Engineers and General Contractors based at Tema in the Greater Accra Region has been awarded the contract for the dualization of the Ho by-pass road which connects from Sokode-Etoe through the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) to Titrinu.

The project which is to be funded from the Ghana Road Fund (GRF), would also see the complete upgrading of all internal roads of UHAS.

The entire project which covers a length of ten-and-half (10.5) kilometers is to be executed under one of the thirteen (13) new road projects the government is rolling out for the Volta Region within the next four (4) weeks.

On Tuesday, 1st September 2020, the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo performed the ground-breaking ceremony at a well-attended event at Sokode-Etoe for the kick-start of the project which in the next one month, is expected to increase all on-going road projects in the region from the current thirty-eight (38) to fifty-one (51).

Ahead of the sod-cutting ceremony, Minister for Roads and Highways and Member of Parliament (MP) for Atiwa West, Hon. Kwasi Amoako Attah said at a press conference at Ho that the government is committed to ensuring that the country’s road network is improved considerably under its 2020 Year of Roads project in order to support her economic growth and development.

Mr. Attah commended First Sky Limited for its enviable track record in the road sector, adding that the Company is currently doing a great job under the Phase Two (2) Nkwanta-Oti-Damanko twelve (12) kilometer on-going road project amongst others. He described First Sky as one of the great, honest, hardworking, and dedicated sons and contractors of the Volta Region and the country at large.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of First Sky Limited, Mr. Eric Seddy Kutortse told our news team that he was humbled by the kind words of commendation from the Road Sector Minister, assuring that his Company in particular and the workers, in general, would continue to deliver quality and timely work not only to the people of the region but also across the country and beyond.

Vice-Chancellor of UHAS, Professor John Gyapong said once completed, the road would be what he described as a lifeline in the efficient pursuit of the University’s mandate as an enviable institution focused on community service and care.

According to him, the sod-cutting event marked a significant point in the progress of UHAS which is the only University in Ghana exclusively dedicated to training healthcare professionals such as doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and midwives as well as biomedical and allied health scientists amongst others.

‘The importance of ease of access to our main campus cannot be over-emphasized. Indeed, today is a good day for Ho, Sokode, and Adaklu; today is a good day for health facilities in the Eastern Corridor of Ghana, but today is a GREAT day for the UHAS community’, Professor Gyapong intimated.
