Ordinary Meeting of the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Assembly Held
The Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District Assembly has received Ghc 1,222,903.00 out of a budgeted estimate of Ghc 4,735,000 as part of the World Bank loan facility for the Social Cohesion Project (SOCO). According to the DCE in her address to honorable Assembly members, through the loan facility the Assembly has awarded several contracts under the Social Cohesion Project in the district.

Such projects she mentioned include the construction of 1No.Theatre at Gindabo, rehabilitation of Sawla SHS burnt dormitory block, construction of an outpatient department-OPD, procurement of 4No. client beaches and 4No.chairs for Tuna and Gindabo, construction of Ancient Jakpa Palace at Nyange, rehabilitation of Sawla Multi-purpose Community Center, construction of 2No.10-Unit market sheds at Yipala, Drilling of 8No.Boreholes in communities, rehabilitation of 3.8km feeder road at Dabori, Supply of 250 wooden desks to schools, Supply of Theatre Equipment including 2No.theatre beds,4No.patient trolley,4No.theatre baby weighing scale,8No.Oxygen cylinder, suction machine, 2No.suction machine, 4No. Delivery set, 8No. Theatre boat, 4No.Heanea set, 4No. Laparotomy set and 2No. sterilizer.This was reported at the Ordinary meeting held on Tuesday December 12th, 2023 at the District Assembly Conference Hall of the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District.

The DCE, honorable Lonsina Barikisu Watara acknowledged and thanked the contributions and support of all donors in the district under the

Critical development interventions that have meaningful impact on the development of the people especially Education,Health, Agriculture, Water, hygiene and sanitation.

The DCE report that the the district assembly through the Ghana productive safety net project-GPSNP awarded and handed over sites to contractors for the construction of small dams at Nakpala and Dagbigu, that the assembly has also developed 10 hectares cashew plantation at Jentilpe and Sanyeri each to help improve climate change,100,000 seedlings have been nursed out of which 1,000 seedlings are expected to be used on each 10 hectare ,adding the excess of the 98,000 seedlings left will be distributed to cashew farmers across the district.

Honorable Barikisu On social protection said a total of sixty-nine (69) communities benefited from the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty-LEAP programme with one thousand, eight hundred and seventy-one(1,871) households receiving the funds and payments has been made up to October 2023.

The DCE announced the Assembly has projected its internaly generated revenue target at four hundred and sixty thousand( Ghc460,000.00) Ghana Cedis for the financial year 2024 and all revenue funding totaling twenty-four million, seven hundred and eighty two thousand, two hundred and ninety-seven point ninety-one Ghana Cedis (Ghc 24,782,297.91)

The draft 2024 composite budget and all recommendations of the various executive committees submitted were all approved for implementation by management
