DCE distributes 300,000 cashew seedlings
The Dormaa East District Chief Executive, Emmanuel Kofi Agyemang has distributed 300,000 cashew seedlings to farmers in the district to improve production.

He said the Assembly has nursed about 350,000 cashew seedlings for distribution to farmers in the area this year.

The DCE explained that the move “is in line with the government’s flagship initiative of Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD).

These are aimed at decentralizing the National Tree Crop Programme (NTCP) to promote rural economic growth and to enhance the country’s foreign exchange earning capacity.

He noted that the Assembly under the PERD initiative has been providing improved cashew seedlings to farmers in the district to enhance cashew production.


“It is also to ensure the supply of raw materials to support the government's decentralized industrialization drive through the One District, One Factory initiative.The government attaches seriousness to the agricultural sector, hence the interventions to ensure its needed boost” the he added.

The Dormaa East Agric Extension Officer, Adjei Kwaku Kennedy, assured the farmers of support and called on them not to hesitate to seek guidance when needed.

Prince Kwasi Yeboah, Assembly member for Asuotiano, advised the youth in the area to take advantage of the various agricultural interventions to increase production and to improve their livelihood.
