Savelugu Assembly inaugurates disaster management committee

A 16-member district disaster management committee of the Savelugu Municipal Assembly has been inaugurated at a short ceremony held on the assembly premises in Savelugu.

Delivering the inaugural address, the MCE, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu commended members for responding promptly to the invitation even at a short notice.

She bemoaned the delay in the constitution and subsequent inauguration of the committee; nonetheless, the committee was implored to respond swiftly at all times to calls to serve in the line of duty despite the obvious busy schedules in their respective offices.

The 16-member committee has the MCE, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu, and the Municipal NADMO Coordinator as chairperson and secretary respectively. The rest, including the Information officer, are members.

The MCE spent quality time schooling members of their core functions as stipulated in the Act of parliament(Act 927) establishing the organization

The committee is required to hold at least one mandatory meeting on bi-monthly bases, as by law established.

Hajia Ayishetu Seidu described the task as arduous and therefore admonished members to demonstrate resilience and commitment at all times in the discharge of their assigned duties.
