Chiranda community gets new Demonstration Centre
The Kintampo North Municipal Assembly in the Bono East Region has commissioned a new Demonstration Centre at Chiranda, a community in the Municipality.

The project, which is a four (4) year Social Protection Project (SPP), aims at leveraging on the ginger value chain in Kintampo North and South Districts to empower the less privileged in the society especially women, youth and persons living with disabilities (PWDs) to enable them improve on their standards of living.

Speaking at a colorful commissioning ceremony, Mr. Isaac Owusu, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for the Project said, the project was co-funded by the European Union with counterpart funding from four (4) implementing partners comprising; Centre for Local Government Advocacy (CLGA), National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), Centre of Posterity Interest Organization (COPIO) and Abrono Organic Farming Project (ABOFAP).


He added that, similar projects have been constructed in other communities across the districts.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kintampo North Municipality, Mr. Isaac Baffoe Ameyaw also expressed his delight and joy about the project, adding that the facility will go a long way to provide jobs for the people and improve their wellbeing.

“It is a significant milestone that fits into the Government policy to provide every district with one factory under the one district one factory programme”


“This facility would promote access of indigenous people to decent work and social protection and it will bring tremendous value addition to the ginger that we would be producing”, he added.

He concluded by saying that, the Municipal Assembly, will do everything possible to ensure that the facility becomes operational at all times to ensure its intended purpose.

The Chief of Chiranda could not hold their joy as he witnessed the commissioning of the project.

He seized the opportunity to call for more of such projects to help provide jobs for the teaming unemployed youth in the area.
