Obaapa Development Foundation lectures on menstrual hygiene
As part of her social responsibility, the founder of Obaapa Development Foundation has held an educative menstrual hygiene management programme at the Ebenezer Methodist Church in Ejisu dubbed “Education About Menstrual Changes And Everything”.

Madam Beatrice Serwaah Derkyi, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu stated that mothers should always educate their girl to be able to keep themselves clean and hygienic during their menses. She advised all the students also, especially girls not to be lazy because it is a major contributory factor of getting infections when teenagers in particular start having their menses.

She entreated to always provide pads for their daughters so as to avoid teenage pregnancy whiles urging all present to keep their environments and municipality clean at all times.

The Municipal Health Direction, Mrs. Josephine Ahorsu explained that the directorate has planned to distribute “iron tablet” to all girls at the community health level to prevent menstrual pains which most adolescents experience. She cautioned that they should avoid the use of papers during menstruations.

Queen mother of Ayeduase, Nana Yaa Saah was grateful to Ghana Education Service, Nana Hemaa Adwoa Awindor, and World Vision Ghana among others for such great a programme and opportunity to be part of it. She advised the participants to avoid teenage pregnancy. She also called on World Vision to come to the rescue of girls in her community as students from of KNUST often impregnate them.

Dr Beatrice Wiafe Addai who graced the programme as a guest, highlighted on the need for Girls to do regular exercise and use pads during menstruation instead of toilet rolls and papers; stressing that exercise helps to avoid pains during menstruation. While regular doing regular breast examination can help prevent breast cancer as it does not affect only the elderly but the young as well, citing a 13year old who has lost all her two breasts through cancer.

She advised that they should take their studies seriously than spending time on social media.

The Chief of Donaso, Nana Tabono Agyeman II who represented the Ejisumanhene, chaired the function.
