AMA inaugurates audit committee
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has inaugurated a five-member Audit Committee to ensure effective functioning of internal control systems and reducing financial infractions of the Assembly.

The inauguration of the committee is in accordance with provisions of section 86 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), which requires that all government institutions establish audit committees.

The committee members include Mrs. Marian D. Ofosu Dankyi the chairperson for the committee and would be assisted by Mrs. Joana Marfo, Mr Yaw Adjaye-Gyamfi, Mr. Alfred Adjei the Presiding Member of the Assembly and Mr. Emmanuel Clottey Chairman of AMA Finance Committee.

The Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency, Dr Derrick Osae, swore in the five-member committee and urged them to guide the AMA to minimize financial losses.

The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Madam Elizabeth Kwastoe Tawiah Sackey, charged them to work diligently without fear or favour as the Assembly is committed to collaborate and provide the needed resources to ensure sound fiscal management.

She congratulated and reminded members that their functions as provided by the Public Financial Management (PFM) 2016 (Act 921) are mandatory, advisory as well as supportive and appealed to them to bring their rich experience to bear.

The Chairperson of the committee, Marian Ofosu, assured that the committee would work hard to ensure proper financial management.
