1D1F: Abuakwa North to benefit from waste-to-energy factory

A new factory with modern methods of converting waste-to-energy and compost will soon be established in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region under the government’s flagship One District One Factory (ODOF) policy.

This comes after an investor expressed interest to set up the factory in the area for that purpose and was announced by Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Mr Owusu Twum-Ampofo at the Assembly’s first ordinary meeting at Kukuratumi, the district capital.

In his keynote address, the MCE noted that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been forwarded to the office of the Regional Minister for technical advice while a 10-acre portion of land has been released for the project.

He noted that the project is expected to create about 200 direct and indirect jobs for the youth, while addressing waste management challenges in the municipality and its adjoining Assemblies.

He therefore called for all hands on deck to help ensure that the project is fully established to the benefit of the people, the Assembly and the Country at large.
