“We will replicate “clean Ghana policy” with clean wenchi”- Hon. Kwakye Afriyie
The Municipal Chief Executive of Wenchi Hon. Dr Prince Kwakye Afriyie said the municipality was in full preparedness towards the implementation of the government’s policy on sanitation which is the Clean Ghana Project.

He said this in an interview with the I S D press in his office.

He said the municipality have accepted the policy outright and will work with all relevant stakeholders in sanitation: Environmental sub-committee, assembly members, nanamon, the clergy, and all civil society including the media to make the program successful.

He disclosed that it was in this light that the assembly has decided to call it “Clean Wenchi Project.”

The M C E noted that the assembly has successfully acquired a new solid and liquid waste final disposal site at Akrobi a suburb of Wenchi after the former place got full up.

He said one major challenge that has bedeviled his administration has been on sanitation. He noted that much of revenue that comes into the assembly is spent on sanitation.



Hon. Kwakye Afriyie noted that the assembly was to sign a key performance agreement with the Zoomlion Ghana limited to ensure best management practices.

He added that it was time that the Polluter Pay Policy (PPP) be implemented fully to curtail the challenges that once upon a time faced government in providing resources for the operations of the Zoomlion Company.

Adding that the Zoomlion Ghana limited has been decentralized and the Assembly were now to manage their activities hence the signing of performance agreement with them.

The chief of Akrobi Nana Ansreh Asakra II mentioned that they looked forward to proper management of the site.

He said when this is ensured there will a reduction in the high risk of diseases that are caused by pollution.
