Date Created : 9/9/2019 12:00:00 AM : Story Author : ghanadistricts/Beatrice Nana Arthur

The exercise which started at 7:00am prompt was fully participated by the Municipal Chief Executive of the Assembly, Hon. Aminu Mohammed Zakari (MZ), Hon. Assembly Members, Staff of the Assembly, and community members of the entire municipality.

The exercise was mainly concentrated on dredging of major drains to prevent flooding during the rainy season.

Hon. Aminu (MZ) in his address to the media explained that the creation of new districts by His Excellency the President, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo was in the right direction since it creates the room to address issues properly and promptly within the confines of the District and Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly is by no doubt a beneficiary. Considering that the Municipality is confronted with unsanitary conditions, Hon. MZ has already set the pace to addressing this challenge, which is marked by the receipt of two (2) trucks from Zoomlion to augment collection of refuse, and the special cleanup exercise held, among other initiatives.

The Coordinating Director, Mrs. Eugenia Akporhor-Agbenyegah also set an exemplary pace for staff to emulate, by collecting waste from dredged drains with a tricycle.

Ms. Mariama Briama, Municipal Environmental Health Officer for ANMA together with her time appropriately took charge of the exercise and directed staff and community members to prime areas including Club 1000, Abavana Street, Newtown police station etc.

In all the Assembly had a successful cleanup exercise which will go a long way to improve health conditions and prevent disasters in the long run.
