Accra mayor condemns Odododiodoo riot, pledges support for nominees
The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Accra, Mohammed Nii Adjei Sowah has condemned and dissociated himself from an ongoing riot at Odododiodio in anticipation of the President’s announcement of Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) for all local assemblies across the country.

According to the rioters, the current mayor, who has been shown the exit by President Akufo-Addo, performed creditably; hence deserves a second term of office.

However, Mr Adjei Sowah has downplayed actions by the group, insisting that it is the sole prerogative of the President to appoint individuals of his choice to promote his agenda, adding that “it is our duty to support the appointees to succeed.”

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly in a statement signed by the mayor of the pledged its support any individual nominated by the president to manage its affairs.

“I totally support all the President’s nominations and commit to continue to work towards the development of the country”, a portion of the statement read.
