Sene East DCE visits Island Communities
The District Chief Executive for Sene East, G.J. Kofi Gyimah and his management team has visited some Island communities in the district.

The visit is to familiarize himself with the indigents on the Islands, get detailed information on the challenges and the issues they face. In an interaction, the DCE, educated the people with regards to child trafficking as he made it clear that it is against the laws of the country to engage in child trafficking.

He also addressed them on the need to make education of their children their priority.



Again the Parents were advised that the only time they can engage their children in fishing activities is weekends, holidays or after school in order to avoid being arrested.

Mr Gyimah admonished the fishermen and women to help the district assembly in revenue mobilisation by patronizing the Kajaji Thursday market. He urged the various communities on how to improve upon their lives through the local economic development policy.

On the other hand, a 3-unit classroom block with office and 4-seater toilet facility at Okpalama for Okpalama D A Primary school was commissioned.



A clarion call was made by the indigenes on education, solar lights, health care, premix fuel, high cost of transportation to Kajaji market.

The DCE assured them that, by the end of the year, all the major Island communities would be connected to mini- grade solar electricity system and the survey had been done already.

β€˜β€™The assembly under my able leadership will continue to support them in whatever ways to expand their businesses, to access quality education, access to quality health care, access to solar lights, provision of live jackets, network and moderate transportation charges to Kajaji market.’’ He noted

The people were also informed about the availability of premix fuel to all fisher folks in the district. Communities visited were; Mogyaduro, Lala, Okpalama, Old Nkomi, Korsitse, Wayokope, Atigagome, Sapketi and Akpoklikope.
