According to him, the scheme shall come in forms of capacity building training and will cut across all staff of the service to ensure effective and efficient delivery of work by members.

“To improve the competence and professionalism of the service, the office of the Head of Local Government Service will introduce career progression scheme for all local government staff”, he said.

Nana Ato Arthur made the disclosure when speaking at the 5th Annual General Conference of the Association of District Coordinating Directors (ASCOD), held at the Royal Cosy Hills in Jirapa in the Upper West Region. This year’s conference was on the theme;”Public Accountability, the role of the District Coordinating Director.”

In his keynote address, Mr Ato Arthur also ceased the opportunity to call on all Coordinating Directors to delegate junior staff to undertake certain tasks of the Assembly instead of micro-managing activities of these officers.

This, he said, can be achieved if they mentor and coach their junior staff and also involve them in all functions of the Assembly.

Touching on delivering all inclusive local governance, the Head of Local Government Service further charged Directors to always endeavor to engage their constituents in decision making in order to produce a shared vision and identify realities to address challenges.

He again reminded them of the critical role they play in both Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and their various Assemblies regarding the country’s development agenda.

He thus advised that they step up the gear to ensure the constant growth of the country.
