Kwahu West Assembly elects Presiding Member
Kwahu West Municipal Assembly held its First Ordinary Assembly meeting of the third session on 9th June, 2022.

The meeting was to elect a new Presiding Member and swear – in new government appointee of the assembly.

The incumbent Presiding Member of the Assembly, Mr. Emmanuel Boansi Darkwa was re-elected by members to serve another term of office.


In all, twenty -six assembly members, 11 government appointees and the Municipal Chief Executive, totaling 39 members, voted.

Out of the 39 votes, Mr. Boansi Darkwa secured 27 representing 86.2% of the total votes cast.

Other contestants who were vying for the position of the Presiding Member were Asamoah Addo Seth and Emmanuel Kofi Bamfo.



Circuit Court Judge, His Lordship Isaac Agyei sworn-in the new Presiding Member and newly members of the assembly into office. They were taken through the Oath of Secrecy, Oath of allegiance and Official Oath.

In his acceptance speech, the PM-elect thanked the Assembly Members, Electoral Officers and all Heads of Department for the confidence reposed in him.


He pledged to work in collaboration with the heads of Department to actualize the vision of the Assembly.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Yaw Owusu Addo, on his part thanked the Assembly Members for their mandatory role played in fulfillment of the Local Governance Act, Act 936.
