According to a statement signed by head of the public affairs of AMA, Gilbert Nii Ankrah noted that the decision was taken with the support of the Greater Accra Markets Association of massive disinfection exercise.

It would be open the next day Tuesday 24th March 2020 as it forms part of the measures by the Assembly to curb the spread of COVID-19 and urged traders and shoppers to comply with the directive and properly store their wares to ensure the successful completion of the exercise.

AMA enjoined Ghanaians to frequently wash their hands with soap under running water for twenty seconds and use hand sanitizers and cover their nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing.
