He said the results improved from 33.3 per cent in 2012 to 68.4 per cent in 2018 and commended the pupils, teachers, parents and other stakeholders for the feat.

Mr Bedzrah made the observation in a speech read on his behalf at the launch of the fifth edition of the Basic Schools Annual Quiz Competition (BaSAQ-C), under his auspices, in Dzolokpuita on the theme “5 Years of BaSAQ-C: Consolidating Our Gains for Quality Basic Education Delivery, The Role of Stakeholders.”

He said progress made in the results were due to the annual quiz competitions, which created a healthy educational rivalry among students and schools in the District.

Mr. Bedzrah reiterated his commitment to supporting education at all levels in the District and mentioned the institutionalisation of the MP’s Common Fund Senior High Schools Scholarship Scheme and the Health Professionals Scholarship Scheme, which was contributing to build a robust human resource for the District for rapid growth.

Mr. Joseph Tei Amesimeku, District Director of Education, Ho West, said the District’s achievement in BECE was due to intervention by the MP and called for more support from other stakeholders, especially parents.

Mr. Nornudzor Christian Kofi Hadzi, Steering Committee Chairman, BaSAQ-C commended the MP and other stakeholders for the success and said more needed to be done for the District to top the Volta Region.

BaSAQ-C is an educational initiative by the Ho West MP in collaboration with the District Education Directorate in 2015 to improve academic performance in the area.
