Although work has commenced, the Astroturf project located at the Konadu-Yiadom M/A Basic School in the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) appears to be moving at a slower pace due to some structural challenges faced by the contractor.

Mr. Eduah on an inspection visit to some Corporate Social Investment (CSI) projects currently being funded by the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) in the Ashanti Region indicated that the full standard-sized pitch, upon completion, would be equipped with a fence and floodlights to permit nighttime community football games as is consistent with GNPC’s standard astro turf design across the country.

He noted that GNPC’s corporate social responsibility focus is driven by its commitment to improving the livelihoods of people and needy communities across the country.

According to him, football as an economic activity has proven to provide tremendous opportunities to many talented Ghanaian youths to change not only their lives but also that of their families, communities, and Ghana as a whole.

This, he said, remains a key goal of GNPC’s sports infrastructure development agenda.
