TaMA fixes streetlight in the capital

Efforts are underway by the Sule Salifu led administration of the Tamale Metropolis to restore the street lights and ultimately brighten the city of Tamale.

Phase one of the ongoing efforts is increasingly making steady progress as repair works on the street lighting systems from Sara junction to TTH stretch; Alhassan Iddrisu storey building to Aboabo enclave as well as Zaamigu to Picona roads have been completed as of close of work today,18th February, 2023.

Residents in the beneficiary areas could not hide their joy following the intervention. They commended the Mayor, Salifu and indeed management of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly for the intervention.

They however expressed concerns about poor maintenance culture regarding the country’s public property and therefore appealed for routine maintenance at regular intervals.

Responding to the concerns, the Mayor assured them of the government's commitment to executing value-for-money project interventions, including maintenance of street lights, for the benefit of the citizenry.

He however appealed to the people; particularly residents of the beneficiary communities to be conscious of their watchdog role as some people intentionally destroy the underground cables and often get away with it sometimes at the full glare of residents.
