‘Pencils of Promise’ hands over 3-unit classroom to Adzoatsi M/A Primary

“Pencils of Promise”, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), has handed over a 3-unit classroom block with toilet facility to the people of Adzoatsi, a community in the Ketu North Municipality.

The project, a short inaugural ceremony was later over to the Municipal Education Director.

Mr. Freeman Gobah, who is the Country Director for Pencils of Promise, explained that their organization is an NGO that primarily focuses on building infrastructure to ensure sustainable education programmes to help improve on the quality of teaching and learning in deprived communities.

He added that, the NGO has over the years built long-lasting collaborative relationships with communities’ thereby increasing access to quality education and positively impact students and parents in high-need communities throughout Ghana, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Laos.

He noted that the Adzoatsi M/A Primary School project is the eleventh of similar projects in the Ketu North Municipality.

The Ketu North Municipal Education Director, Mr. Raphael Amenyo expressed his appreciation to Pencils of Promise for the kind gesture and promised that the facilities would be used for the intended purpose.

He then charged the community leaders and parents to take good care of the school.

The Ketu North Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr. Jasper Adenyo, on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), expressed gratitude to Pencils of Promise for their epic contribution to better education in the Municipality.

Touching on some abandoned GETFUND project in the area, the MCD assured the school authorities and community that plans are underway to complete the project even if it means re-awarding the project.

In his closing remarks, the Personnel Officer for Ketu North Municipal Education Directorate, Mr. Joseph Adukpo who doubled as the Chairman for the ceremony, thanked Pencils of Promise for the gesture. He then pleaded for the renovation of the old school block.

The Adzoatsi M/A Primary School was established in 1958 with a current population of about 310 pupils with 9 teachers.
