Ga South Marks 36th Farmers Day Celebration
The Ga South Municipal Assembly on 6th November, 2020 celebrated the 36th Farmers Day Celebration at Danchira School park to reward hardworking farmers for their contribution to the development of the Municipality and Ghana as a whole.

The Municipal Agric Director, Mrs. Dorinda Akpene Agar in her welcome address stated that during the lockdown post-harvest issues were high as a result of farmers’ inability to sell their produce, however the usage of Information Communication Technology to connect farmers and markets was very positive.

The Municipal Chief Executive in his address commended farmers and fishers for their hardwork and tireless efforts to put food on the table of inhabitants and Ghana as a whole.

He stated that albeit the sand winning activities and destruction of land by Estate developers, farmers have pulled strings to make food available for the inhabitants of the Municipality and the country as a whole. He consequently assured farmers that his administration will ensure the seizure of all illegal activities that destroy farmlands.

In all, Eight (8) distinguished farmers were awarded with Mattresses, cutlasses, agro chemicals, fridges, among other items.

Mr. William Sunuvi of Afadjator was adjudged the best farmer. He received a tricycle, mattress, wellington boots, agro chemicals, among others.

The colorful event was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Joseph Nyarni Stephen, the MP for Ngleshie-Amanfro, Hon. Alhaji Habib Saad the Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Emmanuel Baisie, The chief Superintendent of Amanfrom Divisional Command, Chiefs and Elders, Hon. Assembly Members, Heads of Department, Staff of the Assembly, the Media and the General Public.
