In a press release signed by the Constituency Secretary Okoe Mensah and copied ghanadistricts.com stated that "the secretariat has taken notice of the brutal and barbaric attacks on our Member of Parliament, Hon. Samuel Nartey George and many other innocent party folks".

The statement laments that the Member of Parliament who was going about performing his lawful duty was bounced upon and brutally beaten amidst several gunshots by heavily built gunmen purported to be members of the NPP's invincible forces at the La-Bawaleshie Presby polling station.

According to Okoe Mensah the sitting MP has sustained several wounds on many parts of his body as a result of slaps meted at him as well as the back of a gun used to physically assault him.

"This we see as an attack on constitutional democracy and the rule of law. This condemnable act is a significant case of the state of insecurity that we find ourselves in as a country. This act reflects a complete breakdown of law and order under the Nana Addo led NPP government and an affront on the Democratic gains made so far as a country, where a Member of Parliament gets attacked by gunmen in the full glare of the police, without any protection" the statement emphasised.

The Secretariat thus called on the Ghana Police Service to as a matter of urgency approach the case with all the seriousness it needs.

"Whilst condemning this heinous attack on our Member of Parliament, we wish to urge the Ghana Police service, to as a matter of urgency do the needful and approach this case with all the seriousness and the professionalism it can command, to help redeem its rather sinking image under this Nana Addo-led NPP administration".

They reminded the ruling New Patriotic Party of its cardinal responsibility to keep Ghanaians safe at all time without fear of discrimination.

"We also wish to remind the NPP government about its cardinal responsibility to keep Ghana, all its citizen and their properties safe at all times without any fear of discrimination, be it ethnic, religious or Political".

The Constituency Executive then ceased opportunity to sympathy with the Samuel Nartey George and all other victims urging him to exercise maximum restraint in this very difficult time with the assurance that he can count on the support of the NDC leadership and the Constituency Secretariat at all times till this issue to its logical conclusion.
