The GSS, in collaboration with the MoGCSP, MoSWR and the GIZ, successfully conducted a pilot project covering the two thematic areas (Gender-based violence and solid waste) in four Districts in Ghana (Ho, Techiman, Ga East Municipalities and Central Gonja District) in 2019-2020.

The initial pilot program utilized Citizen-Generated Data, where data was collected by citizens through a mobile technology for monitoring some targets under SDGs 5 and 11.

This method of data collection has been proven to be useful in contributing to quick local data generation to inform policy and programmes at that level, hence the need to scale it up in 30 more Districts including the KNM.

The mobile technologies applications for the pilot- Cleanup Ghana [for the solid waste thematic area]; let’s Talk [for the Gender-Based violence] were developed through a design thinking process.

The Municipal Chief Executive for the area Joseph Adongo in his Speech expressed his utmost support to the app use and encouraged stakeholders to see to its usage in reporting these two thematic areas.

He also encouraged the District technical team to carry out various sensitizations across the Municipality. (The short codes *800*818# and *920*58# could also be used to access the Let's talk and Clean Ghana apps respectively)
