ASUOGYAMAN: PWDs receive items for social, economic empowerment

Samuel Kwame Agyekum, District Chief Executive for Asuogyaman District said it is the policy of government to provide better livelihood for people with disabilities.

He said previously, monies were given to PWDs, but instead of using the monies for economic ventures, they spent it. As a result of that the government decided to provide kits and equipment to them to undertake economic ventures, depending on their request.

The DCE who was speaking at the distribution of items to PWDs in the district advised beneficiaries not to attempt to sell the items given to them because first of all the items have been marked and it will also be prudent for them to use the items for economic ventures where they can earn a living.

Mr. Agyekum reiterated to them that they should use the items to fulfill economic ventures and in that way show appreciation for what the government has done for them.

Madam Salomey Asamoah Danquah the District Social Welfare and Community Development Director, was appreciative of what the government is doing for People with Disabilities in Asuogyaman District.

Items distributed were Electrical Items, Deep Freezers, Table Top Fridge, Shop Container, Fufu Pounding Machine, Cosmetics, Hand Sewing Machines, Fishing Items, Roofing Sheets, Food Stuff and Other Essentials amounting to GHS 75,331.00.
