The new market shed comes as a result of the Greater Accra Regional Minister’s “Operation Clean Your Frontage” initiative which seeks to rid the city of filth and also clear the streets in order to ensure proper sanitation.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the MCE said the shed would help create more space to accommodate traders who have encroached on pedestrian walkways and the streets.

She assured that the Assembly would rehabilitate all the sheds in the markets as part of efforts to transform the markets in Accra.

“We have the intention of constructing many other sheds because there is the need to transform the markets by rebuilding and giving them an ultramodern market shed”, she said.
