The distribution was in connection with the government’s effort to improve agriculture in the country through the Planting for Food and Job programme.

Mr Kesseh congratulated the farmers for their hard work and entreated them to take advantage of this current weather condition.

He also told them to work closely with the Agric Extension Officers and apply their directives. The Chief Executive finally sounded a strong warning to the youth not to engage themselves in social vices but rather use their God-given strength in the field of agriculture.

Nana Takyi Badu, the Chief Farmer for Offinso South constituency, after taking delivery of the seedlings on behalf of the farmers commended government for the initiative.

He however, lamented on the numerous challenges facing cocoa farmers in the Offinso Municipality some of which include; reduction of government’s cocoa spraying programme, late arrival of fertilizers, and insufficient supply of pesticides.

He entreated government to provide quick response to some of these disheartening conditions so that cocoa farmers can improve their productivity.

Most of the farmers were very happy about the government’s thoughtful initiative and expressed gratitude. However, they shared sentiments similar to ones mentioned earlier by the Chief Farmer and called for government’s support.
