Nene Kanor Atiapah, Acting President and Mankralo of the Ningo Traditional Area has appealed to the President, John Dramani Mahama to consider their plea for a district.

He said the non-existence of a district for Ningo is seriously affecting the living standard of the people who had to contend with deplorable town roads, lack of jobs, dilapidated police quarters among others.

The Acting President said Ningo had all the factors, socially and economically to become a district and even the recent siting of the Accra International Airport on their land and the vast land area could be used to generate a lot of revenue for the government.

Nene Atiapah made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday and said the people had always supported governments during elections, but yet their status of living had not changed in terms of provision of projects over the years.

“The people of Ningo are tired of being subjects to other districts. First we were under Dangme District headed by Ada, Dangme West District headed by Dodowa and now Prampram and for all these years we have been neglected,” he said.

Nene Atiapah said; “We have long been in existence before the people of Ada, the Shai and the Prampram. It is sad that small towns had attained district status while Ningo had been sidestepped.”

“We are passionately appealing to the President to intervene on behalf of the people of Ningo to get us a district to revamp the area.”
