The Chief Executive Officer of Madamfo Ghana Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Mad. Bettina Landgrafe, who doubles as the Nkosuohemaa for the Apewu community in the Bosome-Freho district, has been honoured by the Asamang Traditional Council.

The German national, who answers to Nana Afia Anim Korkor Ababio, has been elevated.

She is the Nkosuohemaa of the entire Asamang Traditional Area, in recognition of her contributions to development.

Nana Afia Anim Kokor Ababio is known for her tremendous efforts in selflessly promoting the development agenda of the area, by providing development projects to deprived communities and villages over the years, for which she was enstooled the Nkosuohemaa of the Apewu Community 10 years ago.

For the past 10 years, Ms. Landgrafe’s NGO has contributed to the development of the area, with the provision of projects to improve the lot of the people.

Madamfo Ghana, with funding by Anna Borkenhagen Go from Ghana, has constructed a two-classroom block for the local kindergarten, and offices for the Mmorontuo community, at the cost GH¢30,000.

The NGO has also built two Kumasi Ventilated Improved Projects (KVIP) at the cost of GH¢30,000, which were sponsored by George-Krauss-Stiftung, Germany, in the Bosome-Freho District.

The foundation, which concerns itself with the provision of quality drinking water, places of convenience, and classrooms for the rural communities in Ghana, has provided mechanised pipe borne water at the cost of GH¢98,000 for the Dompa, Hantase and Banso communities in the

Bosome-Freho District.

It also funded the construction of a two-unit classroom block for the local Kindergarten of the Roman Catholic Primary School at Dunkura in the Bosome-Freho District.

The block, comprising two classrooms, office and a store, with a set of furniture, was provided at the cost of GH¢30,000.

The people of Ampaha have also benefited from an 8-seater KVIP, built and donated by the German NGO.

Nana Adoma Ababio, Queenmother of the Asamang Traditional Council, who announced the German’s elevation at a ceremony recently, advised her to perform her responsibilities diligently, since her workload had now become so enormous.

She was also advised against complacency, and to work harder in the realisation of her avowed aim of improving the living standards of the people in the area.

Nana Afia Anim Kokor Ababio commended the Queenmother of the area for the honour done her, and promised to deliver.

She promised to work to alleviate the hardship and poverty among the rural folks, and called for the cooperation of the people in executing her development agenda for the area.

Nana Korkor Ababio’s male counterpart, Nana Frimpong, Nkosuohene, pledged his unflinching support and assistance to her.
