Mr. Moses Azaglo, a former Chairman of the the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ketu North constituency in the Volta Region has been re-elected at a delegates’ congress at Ehi.   

He lost the position four years ago having held it for nine years.   

Mr. Azaglo, 49, a teacher, who was rejected by the Ketu South Assembly in May as the District Chief Executive for the area, had 133 votes to beat the incumbent, Mr. Arthur Azakpo, who secured three votes.

Mr. Azakpo, who belonged to a faction that demanded postponement of the congress following disagreements over some constitutional issues leading to acrimonies and court actions, was absent from the congress.   

The venue of the congress was changed from Dzodze to Ehi and proceedings went well. 

The delegates went into jubilation when the results were announced by the Ketu South and North officials of the Electoral Commission who supervised the election.   

Mr. Dodzi Mensah was elected Vice Chairman, defeating Mr. Francis
Nanewortor, Mr. Jacob Agbenuza, Secretary and Mr. Rowland Amegatse, Organiser.   

Mrs. Victoria Atikor was elected Women Organiser and Mr. James Tessu, Propaganda Secretary.   

Mr. Azaglo later told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that he would preoccupy himself first and foremost with the resolution of all differences in the party in the area through ward to ward executive meetings in order to strengthen the party for its 2012 election fortunes and beyond.   

"I have been chairman for nine years during which my capabilities were identified and I will go the extra mile to deepen the confidence the members have in me", he said.   

Mr. Azglo later told the delegates to forget the past and unite. "What is important is to seek socio-economic progress for yourselves, the area and Ghana at large."   

Mr. James Avedzi, the area’s Member of Parliament, called for an end to politics of personal attacks and wrangling which would only go to tarnish the image of the constituency and the party and weaken its viability and marketability.
