Kwahu South MUnicipal Assembly Celebrates 37th Farmers Day at Sukwa
The 2021 Farmers Day celebration has been held today at Sukwa, a farming community in the Kwahu South Municipality.

It was on the theme “Planting for Food and jobs-Consolidating food systems in Ghana”. It was well attended by Chiefs / Queen mothers, Heads of Department/ units, Non-Governmental Organizations, Farmers, Heads of Security Agencies, the general public and the media.

Speaking at the event, Municipal Chief Executive of KSMA, Mr. Emmanuel Atta Ofori Snr., congratulated all farmers and fishermen for contributing in diverse ways to feeding the population and sustaining the economy.

He said the Assembly on its part has put in place numerous interventions to support farmers within the municipality and urged them to do more.

He emphasized that, the theme was also in line with the government’s vision of creating prosperity and equal opportunities for all. He also informed the gathering that the Banana Processing Factory (One District, One Factory) in the municipality was almost ready to be commissioned and encouraged the Farmers to plant more banana to feed the factory.

He congratulated the 2021 Farmers Day award winners in the Municipality and urged them to keep up the hard work that had earned them the awards while urging those who had not been selected not rest on their oars, but continue to work harder for their turn.

Twenty-twoc(22) award winners, comprising of institutions, men and women which included the physically challenged were honoured with various prizes.
Abrahim Mohammed emerged as the overall Municipal Best Farmer with Kwabena Ntim as the runner up.
