Parents urged not to neglect the disabled among their children
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Mercy Mission for the Disabled Ghana a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Madam Comfort Sey, has appealed to Ghanaians most especially Parents and Guardian's not to neglect their children with Disabilities but show love and affection to them.

Madam Comfort Sey who is also a disable made these passionate appeal whiles speaking yesterday in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com, after donating some assulted material to the persons living with disability in Agogo in the Asante Akim North District in the Ashanti Region.

She noted some parents discriminate among their children by loving the able than the disables with the believes that the disables has nothing good to offer them and has advised them to desist from such mentality as no one knows the future holds.

Comfort Sey who is now an Evangelist spreading the good news of Jesus Christ hinted that the mission which has been in existence for some 24 years in 2012 collaborated with an Australian physiotherapist, Jacinta Warren in conducting a survey on children with disabilities in Asante Akim Central selected communities and problem relating to physically challenged children were revealed that, children born with congenital defects were kept indoors, most of these children were also left to their fate as they lack appropriate treatment, in terms of medical care, proper nutrition and education as in most cases fathers ignore these unfortunate children and their mothers which she described as a bad attitude on the part of parents.

The NGO whose mission is to ensure the quality of life for persons with developmental disability through the recognition of each person inherant dignity and right to a life filled with learning and love, has over the years been recognized by the government of Ghana for it's great efforts to better the living standard of the volnurables in society.
It is also good to know Ms Sey received an award during the Africa day of Administration at the National Theatre in 1998 when she worked with the Asante Akim municipal Assembly as a civil servant.

In order to meet the mission of the Mercy Mission for the Disabled the CEO announced that, the mission intends to in the coming year send some of the unfortunate children to the Orthopedic center for treatment. The mission also engages in health related programs by sensitizing communities in the prevention of diseases such as HIV aids, Malaria, TB in Asante Akim Central and North through trained volunteers. This is done by global fund through the Ghana health Service.

Madam Comfort Sey however made a passionate appeal to the first family of the land, Mr. and Mrs. Akuffo-Addo and all meaning Ghanaian to assist Mercy Mission with a bus that would convey the physically challenged children to the orthopedic centers to correct their deformities. Society can then find them useful.

Ms Sey is a lso a member of the amputee coalition of America went on to plead with the Akuffo Addo Administration to help support women with physically challenged children financially, so these children can be well cared for. She stated further, "there is the need to set up more special schools in every Districts for the benefit of children with special needs".

She concluded by sounding a word of caution to Politicians, adding, in the event of a war, we all stand to lose, since there will be no victor or vanquished, politicians must love mother Ghana and put all selfish interest aside.
