Mr Ntim, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso North Constituency in the Ashanti Region, said District Assemblies must strive to improve the local economy by promoting and supporting productive ventures and activities that would create jobs and raise income levels of the people.

The Deputy Minister explained that government programmes being implemented by the various Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) are all geared towards improving the well-being of the citizenry. He therefore charged the MMDAs in the country to rise up and do its part to ensure that the ultimate goal of the government is achieved.

He also urged all stakeholders at the local level to collaborate and play their respective and collective roles to ensuring the development of the country.

Mr Ntim made these remarks when he met Chiefs, Heads of Department and Assembly members of the Mampong Municipal Assembly at the Mampong Assembly Hall as part of his one(1) –day working visit to Mampong in the Ashanti region.

The visit among other things was to afford the minister the opportunity to assess the leadership style of the MCE, the level of collaboration and co-ordination between the MCE and Heads of Department, Assembly members and Nananom and other stakeholders and how that was impacting on the performance of the Assembly as far as the implementation of government policies were concerned.

The minister pointed out that the government policies are implemented at the local level and the success or otherwise depends largely on how well the key actors in the local government function as a team and working together in unity and focus for the common interest of the public.

The minister was impressed about the level of unity among the political head and relevant stakeholders in the Mampong Municipality which has seen the municipality chalking some successes in the area of Agric, Health and Education as well as in the employment.

He however urged the MCE, Thomas Appiah- Kubi to continue to give more attention and support productive ventures especially to the Department of Agric so as to ensure that more people get on board and benefit from the Agric policies and interventions.
He explained that as an agriculture municipality, he expects that over 60% of its population would go into farming and take advantage of the various government interventions on agriculture and thereby help improve their living condition.

In attendance were the Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Francis Owusu-Ansah, Nana Kwasi Kodua Akuoko II, Kyiremfasohene, Nana Omuno Asamoah Agyekumhene II, Hweidiemhene, Nanan Opoku Mensah Asenso II, Adwidwanhene, Clergy, Heads of Department and the media.
