7,315 pupils benefit from SFP
A total of 7, 315 pupils from 30 basic schools are currently benefiting from the School Feeding Programme in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region.

This was revealed by Municipal Chief Executive of the area, Mr Owusu Twum Ampofo at the First Ordinary Meeting yesterday at Kukurantumi, the municipal capital.
Addressing Assembly members and other departmental heads, the MCE noted that enrollment level had increased significantly after introducing the programme in the area, adding that the number is expected to further improve if the programme is expanded to cover other schools.
He further disclosed that the Assembly, through the Department of Agriculture, is exploring avenues to link the caterers to local farmers as means of providing ready market for local produce.
The government, according to him, is addressing challenges of the programme by settling debts owed to caterers.
