Let us work to reverse poor attitude towards sanitation---Gyato
Deputy Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Michael Gyato has called for collaborative and strategic innovative efforts to help change the poor attitude of Ghanaians towards sanitation in the country.

He bemoaned the poor state of sanitation in the Country which poses a greater threat to achieving the national health insurance trust and those of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Mr. Michael Gyato further noted that if the Nation is supposed to attract the required investment opportunities in tourism and other related areas, then “we need to properly manage waste in our towns and cities."

Over fourteen thousand (14,000) tons of waste is generated daily in our towns and cities which could serve as a major source of raw material for most of our agro based industry and also provide employment for the youth, he said.

The Deputy Minister, who represented the substantive Minister, Joseph Kofi Adda, made this remarks at the launch of the right way initiative to adopt bin campaign in Accra to provide dustbin along the streets of Accra to encourage the proper disposal of waste in the city.

It is an opportunity to provide the citizenry with a bin in support of the National Sanitation Campaign, an innitiative of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly and one Ghana Movement, Jakora ventures a waste management company.

The Mayor of Accra Nii Adjei Sowah noted that his outfit is taking all the necessary steps required to ensure the rainy season is devoid of any calamity and the misfortune this year.

And added that the AMA can only achieve this if, “we all play our parts and keep the city clean”.
