Fourth edition of Adekyem Festival launched
The fourth edition of Adekyem Festival which will be celebrated in November, 2018 by the chiefs and people of Bechem has been officially launched by Nana Fosu Gyeabour Akoto II, the Omanhene of Bechem Traditional Council, Nana Adwoa po Dwamena Serwaa II, the Bechem Queen Mother and Adekyem Planning Committee in Bechem of the Brong Ahafo Region.

It was attended by various chief from the traditional council clad in beautiful kente clothes and regalia and as well as other dignitaries like Hon. Collins Offinam Takyi, the MCE for Tano South, Hon. John Dadzie, the Presiding Member for Tano South Municipal Assembly and Mr Asamoah Enoch Agyapong.

Nana Fosu Gyaebour Akoto II, the Omanhene of Bechem Traditional Council thanked all participants for honouring his invitation to attend the programme and hinted that festivals help promote culture and development; and it is upon that reason that the fourth edition of Adekyem festival is launched to make people of Bechem and its environs to prepare towards the celebration of Adekyem Festival slated to take place at Bechem in November, 2018.



He stressed that the proceeds of the fourth edition of Adekyem festival will be used by the Chiefs and Adekyem Planning Committee to construct eye clinic at Bechem Government Hospital to augment the existing ones and urged all to contribute their quota to make the programme a success.

Nana Fosu Gyabour Akoto II, used the occasion to define ‘’Bechem’’ as a place where goodies are shared after Ashanti’s warriors have returned from wars and stressed that the Chiefs of Bechem will use festival as a development tool to construct some important facilities at Bechem and the Municipality as a whole to improve the living standards of people.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Collins Offinam Takyi,admonished all and sundry to join in the celebration since the festival is significant to the development of the country.

He said national functions organized by various Agencies and Institutions create opportunity for people to add their voices to the decision making processes of government and informed the residents of Bechem and its environs to attend all forms of national programmes.



Hon Takyi said festival celebration is dear to the heart of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Presient of the Republic of Ghana and his government and hinted that the Tano South Municipal Assembly will do all it takes to support Nana Fosu Gyaebour Akoto II, the Omanhene of Bechem Traditional Council and his lieutenants to celebrate Adekyem Festival slated to take place at Bechem in November, 2018.

He said government is committed to creating another region from the existing Brong Ahafo Region and for that matter all Ghanaians who have attained 18 years of age and above and could not register during 2016 general elections should ensure they register when the electoral commissioner opens the limited voters’ registration exercise in the Municipality.

He said those who have voter’s identity cards will be allowed to carry out referendum exercise by the electoral commissioner and urged all political parties not to politicize the creation of the region. He used the occasion to catalogue the achievements of the government and informed the chiefs of Bechem and its environs to organize communal labour to do development projects.



Mr. Asamoah Enoch Agyapong (Baby Jet), a Kumasi Based Entrepreneur who chaired the programme informed the younger generation to eschew from using tramadol drugs and other alcoholic drinks and focus on their education and trades since education is the only thing that can bridges the gap between the poor and the rich.

He used the occasion to appeal to all politicians to avoid promises they cannot deliver but urged them to play a leading role to bring development projects to their constituencies to improve the living conditions of the people. He said since a room is not built a day, he informed the younger generation to imitate the behaviour and legacies of the older generation and avoid using dubious means of acquiring wealth.
