MTN supports Asante Bonwire Kente Festival
Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN), Ghana's leading telecommunication company has presented a cheque for an amount of GH¢7,000.00 to the Bonwire Traditional Council in support of this year's Kente Festival celebrations.

The company also donated some hampers, assorted MTN souvenirs, GH¢500.00 worth of airtime and routers to boost communication during the celebration.
In addition, Ashtell Limited, main distributors of MTN products in the Ashanti region, is also sponsoring the beauty pageant segment with an amount of GH¢2,300.00 for the ultimate winner and the first and second runner ups.
The festival which is celebrated annually is to showcase the various types of Kente cloth, which are skillfully designed and woven by the indigenes, while uniting citizens both home and abroad for development.
Kente, has now become a national symbol, representing the beauty, elegance, tradition, culture and creativity as well as the craftsmanship of the Ghanaian.
Mr Peter Bimpeh, Regional Commercial Manager of Northern Ghana, at a brief presentation ceremony, said MTN is proud to be associated with the Kente Festival.
He said the festival demonstrated the entrepreneurial qualities of the people of Bonwire which tied in with MTN's core value of 'can do spirit'.
The production of Kente in large quantities, he noted, was a form of economic empowerment, especially for the youth, adding that it was in line with the company's commitment to ensure employment creation.
He said MTN currently occupies the first position in the Ghana Club 100 rankings and operating in 22 countries, improving lives and providing both direct and indirect jobs for thousands of people.
Nana Kofi Kwarteng, the Chief Linguist of Bonwire, who received the cheque on behalf of the traditional council, applauded MTN for their continuous support to the festival.
He said the organization of the festival requires huge financial commitment and the donation was timely and critical to the success of the event.
