The Assembly is also said to have initiated plans to revamp the Degedege irrigation facility and also commence work on new irrigation projects at Tanoso, Seikwa, Yabraso and Menjiunder the ‘one village, one Dam’ irrigation projects by the government.

The developments, according to District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Lawyer Charity Akua Foriwaa Dwommoh, is aimed at providing jobs for the youth and also lessen the export of raw cashew nuts out of the district to other neighbouring countries for processing.

The DCE, who was speaking in an interview with Ghanadistricts.com,highlighted on the importance projects adding that the move is also expected to complement the government’s flagship‘Planting for Food and Jobs’ and the One District, One Factory (1D1F) agro- industrialization initiatives.

Meanwhile, Lawyer Dwommoh has also set the record straight by revealing that her district has surpassed ‘Sampa’, another community in the Brong Ahafo region to become the leading producer of cashew nuts in the country. She boasted that Tain was now first on the league log with regards to cashew production in the country.

“We (Tain) produce cashew, mango, pepper and cassava. The impression is being created that Sampa is a leading producer of cashew in the Brong Ahafo. That impression is inaccurate, Tain has taken the lead long ago” she stated.
