AKwasi Acquah, Akufo-Addo et al honoured at maiden ‘Eastern Star Awards’
Thursday night was a night to celebrate some industrious and hardworking sons of the Eastern region, as well as some veteran figures who have over the years contributed significantly towards its development.

The ‘Eastern Star Awards’, is an event that seeks to recognize individuals who hail from the region and have over the years contributed extensively to its development in all aspects.

The event, according to the organizers, is also aimed at motivating these industrious sons to continue with their good works and also to inspire others to emulate them.


In all, about 23 indigenes of the region were honored for their contribution to development in the fields of health, environment, agriculture and media among others.


Veteran musician, Nana Ampadu was also honoured on the night for his gross contribution to Ghana's entertainment industry.

It was however, moments of fun and ecstasy when, Mr Alexander Akwasi Acquah, Chief Executive of The Community Hospitals (TCH) Group and Maks Publications and Media Services, took to the podium to receive the prestigious ‘Osagyefo’ award at the maiden Eastern Star Awards (ESA) night.


The vibrant CEO, who received standing ovation as a sign of acknowledging his enormous contribution to the Health sector of the country, was accompanied to the podium by family, friends, staff and chiefs who could not stop dancing to the tune of the powerful live-band performance by the 'jamming crew'.


Mr Akwasi Acquah, through his hard work and dynamism now owns The Community Hospitals in Kukurantumi, Akyem Oda, Somanya, as well as mortuaries in Oda and Kukurantumi in the Eastern Region.

Other branches to his credit include The Community Hospital in Ashongman Estates, Trinity Community Hospital in Ashaiman as well as Kaneshie Medical Centre.


President of the Republic, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who could not make it to the programme was however, enstooled the ‘Mputuhene’ (Development Chief) of the people of the Eastern Region.


He was represented by the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Eric Kwakye Darfuor.
