The Presiding Member, John Dadzie said the release of the motorbikes was timely and in fulfilment of earlier assurance by management of the assembly to ensure quick release of the motorbikes, an intervention that averted an intended boycott of assembly meeting by members.

Mr Collins Offinam Takyi, Municipal Chief Executive, expressed gratitude to the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development for releasing the motorbikes to enhance the work of the Assembly members.

He said among the Districts and Municipal Assemblies in Brong Ahafo Region, Tano South Municipal Assembly has the highest Assembly Members and as such received the highest number of motorbikes.

He called on them to use the motorbikes for their intended purposes.

Mr Takyi apologised for the delay in distributing the motorbikes, explaining that management tried to obtain motor licenses and registration number for each Assembly Member before the distribution. However, since that could not happen, he urged beneficiaries to follow due processes to acquire motor license and registration number before putting it into operation.

Lastly, he used the occasion to catalogue some of the achievements of government and also informed them on some of the projects the assembly planned to execute in the Municipality.

Deputy Minister for Ahafo Region and Member of Parliament for Tano South Constituency, Benjamin Yeboah Sekyere, urged beneficiaries of the motorbikes to obey road safety regulations to make them live longer to serve the people in their electoral areas in the Municipality and said government under the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has enacted a law to allow election of MMDCEs from 2021.

To this end, a referendum on the election of MMDCEs will be conducted by electoral commission soon and advised Assembly Members to be part of the exercise whenever it commences in the Municipality.
