924 students benefit from free vacation classes in Asante-Akim South
A total of 924 Senior High School students in the Asante-Akim South Municipality, currently at home under of the double track arrangement, are benefitting from free vacation classes.

The out-of-school academic session, is being jointly sponsored by the Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Alexander Frimpong and the Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Kwaku Asante Boateng.

The goal is to keep the students busy - working on their books during the period they are at home.

The classes are being held in five centres - Juaso Senior High School (SHS), Bompata, Obogu, Banka and Oduro Appenteng SHS.
The MCE has been visiting the various centres to see for himself how things are going.

He expressed satisfaction with the high patronage, the enthusiasm, seriousness and the comportment of the students.

He encouraged them to remain focussed and to work with zeal to live their academic dreams.

“You need to work very hard on your books to make good grades in the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

“This would justify the huge investment being made by your parents and government in your education”, he added.

Mr Frimpong said success in their examination could only come through discipline, commitment and perseverance.

They should refuse to be influenced by peer pressure – resist doing anything likely to ruin their future.

He said the various interventions by government in the education sector were meant to build a solid human resource base for the country development and called for all stakeholders to give strong support to the government.

He commended the coordinators’, the teachers and headmasters of the host schools for the vital roles they were playing to assist achieve the intended purpose of the exercise.
