DCE interacts with farmers
Tain District Chief Executive, Madam Charity Akua Oforiwaa has met with cashew and mango farmers in the District to brief them about the development in the cashew industry and discussed with them how they could improve their farming activities to help develop the district through cashew and mango farming.

The DCE said that she has been interacting with some companies to establish their warehouses in the district to prevent the district from losing its cashew to other nearby districts and also for the district to be recognized as one of the leading cashew producer.

Madam Charity urged the farmers to start using improved seedlings to ensure the quality of their products. She added that the Assembly would be producing 100,000 cashew seedlings which they have started with 20.000 to be distributed freely to the farmers under the District Chamber of Agriculture Commerce and Technology policy.



She added that the Assembly is ready to provide seedling and polybags to communities that would provide land, black soil and fencing to establish cashew nursery at the various communities in the district.

She therefore urged the farmers to form associations to bring them together in other to get the needed support they would desire in their activities.

The district director of agriculture advised the farmers to be spraying their farms three times a year to help improve their yields and not to adhere to rumors circulating that if they spray their farms their cashew would not last for a longer period.

The farmers thanked for the Chief Executive for initiative outline to help them in their activities and also helping them to benefit from the cashew spraying exercise. They also plead to the DCE to help reshaping their roads to enhance easy transportation of their products.
