Road closure and diversion: We will be on the ground - MTTD Commander
The Odorkor Divisional Commander of the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Michael Aseidu, has given assurance that his men and women would be at every point on the Mallam Junction to manage the traffic situation.

As the Mallam Junction high way will be closed on Monday 30th of April 2018 for 50 days for a major drainage works to be carried out.

This project is being carried out by the Ministry of Roads and Highways in collaboration with the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA) Sanitation and Water Resources to reduce the perennial flooding on the Mallam stretch of the road.

DSP Michael Aseidu further revealed that a meeting between stakeholders and MTTD a request have been placed for protective and safety gears since construction will be undertaken and they have agreed to it.

And they have to manage both vehicles and pedestrians, “at every point of the diversion we going to ensure that there is always safety”, he said.

Drivers who will comply with the traffic will move without any problem, "we will ensure that they travel faster", DSP Michael Aseidu remarked.

As to what will happen to drivers who will not comply with the traffic regulations and the various diversion demarcations, “we will make them face the law, drivers should not try to maneuver their way through we will be on the ground to manage the situation”

He noted that they are going to be very strict with the traffic enforcement but not harsh.
