Okere District Assembly established

It was a dream come true when the much awaited Okere District Assembly was inaugurated at Adukrom in the Eastern Region.

Okere was carved out of the Akwapem North Municipal; its capital is situated at Adukrom-Akuapem.

It forms parts of the thirty-eight (38) newly created districts and municipalities that were elevated across the country on Thursday.

The inaugural ceremony brought together chiefs and people who couldn’t hide their joy and displayed their colorful culture through drumming and dancing for the creation of the new district. Officers were sworn in to start operating.

It is expected that the newly created Okere District will foster, and harness accelerated development within Okuapemman.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Eric Kwakye Darfour, Minister for Regional Reorganisation and Development, Dan Botwe who double as the Member of Parliament for the Okere Constituency, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei, MP for Akropong constituency, Dennis Aboagye Edward; MCE for Akuapem North Municipal Assembly, Traditional Rulers and a host of other invited dignitaries graced the occasion.
