Two contestants, Hon. Stephen Asamoah Boateng and Hon Solomon Nyantakyi who contested for the position previously had none of them emerge victorious as the required votes that could allow any of them to replace Hon Joseph Addo as the new presiding member could not be garnered.

Hon Stephen Asamoah Boateng stepped down this time around for Hon Solomon Nyantakyi to go unopposed for the position of the PM.

The Electoral commissioner, Mr Todemeho Misinu who was there to ensure free and fair election disclosed that though one of the contestant had stepped down, voting must still go on to determine whether the assembly members wanted Hon Solomon Nyantakyi to be the PM or not; hence they should vote yes or no.

At the end of the voting forty three (43) people voted yes and one person voted no; and one ballot paper was rejected. This indicated that Hon. Solomon Nyantakyi was voted for, to be the PM

In his acceptance address, he commended all for the trust they had in him and promised not to let anyone down. He noted that the task at hand was herculean as he needed to be fair and firm at the same time.

The visibly elated new presiding member ended by calling for total support and cooperation to uplift the image of Mampong and do away with acts that had the tendency to bring the municipality down.

Hon Nyantakyi who is the assembly member for Bosofour Electoral Area commended Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, Mamponghene and occupant of Asante Silver Stool and his traditional council, the municipal Chief executive and the assembly members for diverse roles played in ensuring that the municipal sailed on calm waters all the time.
