Highway Authority inaugurates Road Management and Protection task force
The Ashanti Regional chapter of the Ghana highway Authority (GHA) has inaugurated a regional task force to deal with Road Reservation management and protection in the region.

The management if the Ghana highway Authority in the Ashanti Region in compliance with the Ghana highway Authority Act 540 of 1997, has set up a five member task force for the region to protect its roads and highways in the region and also its management and reservation in order to prevent many carnages on the region's roads and highways and also to protect properties.

The five member regional task force comprises of Mr Nurudeen Moomin, the regional safety and environment officer, Mr Albert Amon, the regional Auditor, Mr Elorm Fiagbey ,the regional surveyor, Mr Michael Turkson, Administrative secretary and Nana Ninsin Imbeah, the chairman for the Ghana highway Authority retired staff Association ( GHARSA).

In his inaugural address dubbed " Constitution of Right-of -way Task force", the Ashanti regional director for the Ghana highway Authority ,Christian Nti said the task force is mandated to to remove all structures illegally cited within the road Reservations and prevent any further encroachment of on the roads and highways with immediate effect.

He also added that the team would also demand and inspect the permits for entry and exit of all fuel filling stations cited within the region and be made to pay the appropriate charges as stipulated in the fees and charges Amendment instrument, 2016.

The task force would also identity all persons who have, without the written permission of the Authority, carried out illegal excavations within the road corridor for all such persons to be surcharged for the illegitimate destruction of public property. "Failure to pay for the destruction caused would be made face the full rigorous of the law" he charged.

Mr Christian Nti later appealed to all stakeholders far and near to assist the highway Authority in the Ashanti region to protect and maintain public properties for posterity.

In an Interview with the press, a member of the task force, Nana Ninsin Imbeah, chairman for the Ghana highway Authority retired staff Association (GHARSA) said they will work hard and make recommendations for the prosecution of all defaulters in the appropriate court of competent jurisdiction.

The team also pledged to discharge their assignment with high level of professionalism and dedication and due diligence.
