With a total of 110 dams to be constructed in the Upper West Region, the DCE indicated that 10 of these dams will be sited in the Nadowli-Kaleo District, which will ensure all-year-round agriculture in the district.

She added that 6 sites for the construction of the dams have so far been handed over to contractors and was hopeful that they will finish the construction before the rains set in.

She admonished all contractors to use local labour to do some of the jobs that do not need high skilled persons.

Madam appealed to the contractor to adhere to all the terms and conditions of the contract

The site manager of Manhokers Company limited, the company working on the dam, Mohammed Issahaku said the dam will be handed over to the assembly by the end of February this year, and assured the Assembly of quality work.

Speaking to some of the community members, they said the dam will become their source of drinking water as they do not have any good source of drinking water for the past years.

They also called on the Assembly to sink a borehole for them.
